MUSIC PROGRAM- 'DO-RE-MI'- with Kathy Lloyd-Besson

Kathy has been a Kodaly early childhood music specialist since completing her studies with the University of Queensland and Clayfield School of Music in 2000.  Currently she runs “Do Re Mi, Music for Children” classes from her home studio and at day-care centres in Brisbane.  She also teaches at the Griffith University Young Conservatorium.  The ages of her students range from 6mths to 6years….to 60yrs! as she also presents at Professional Development seminars for childcare centre workers, enlightening participants as to the benefits of integrating music into their program in order to help develop the “whole child”. Maintaining the “whole Kath” outside of teaching and parenting she sings in trio Muddy Tutu.

Do-Re-Mi" classes focus on developing in-tune singing, beat and rhythm through joyful and creative musical expression, in a supportive and fun environment. Based on the educational, social, emotional and physical needs and abilities of each individual child, these “pre-instrumental” classes encourage a positive attitude to music and a solid foundation for future music education. They are endorsed by the The Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia (KMEIA), to which I have been affiliated since 2001.
